The Choir:

The Cappella Singers of Upminster, based in Upminster, Essex, are an amateur, mixed voice chamber choir.

We have currently 14 members.

Since 2006 we have been fortunate to have worked with a number of dynamic young conductors, all of whom have been students on the masters in Choral Conducting at the Royal Academy. Our understanding of choral singing has been enormously enriched by working with these young people.

New members are welcome, and should be able to read music. Although it is helpful if you can sight-read this is not essential.

Why not come and join us and work with these exciting conductors?!

The choir has been singing in Upminster and the surrounding area for nearly 40 years, and enjoys singing both old and newer music (from Tallis to Tavener).

Despite our name, not all our concerts are “a cappella” (unaccompanied) – we sometimes have organ or piano accompaniment, and have sung with an instrumental ensemble and a harp…

As we are self-financing, members pay a subscription – currently £70 per ten-week term.

We rehearse in Upminster on Thursday evenings, 7.30 – 9.30 – more details at: Rehearsals.
